One of the most unique was Red Witch, formerly of Nashville TN. This 38' 1929 Chris Craft was listed for sale in the U.S. in 2010 for $275,000. Top speed 30 knots. Boating Canada Style

[caption id="attachment_2447" align="aligncenter" width="300"]Pulling hard through glass Pulling hard through glass[/caption] Last night a sail boat drifted lazily by. Barely a ripple. Then a 1940's woody on full throttle -  rolling wake and thunder of an untamed V8 reverberating into the sunset . This morning we're back to the quiet side. Calm water and the splash of clean entry as a couple of rowers take their constitutional. Happy Canada Day from Muskoka!

Others just jump off the dock. It all depends on shock tolerance. It would take a lot of shock to make this platform move. A stone age diving board

Railway station?

For many of us who live in Muskoka, the sound of train whistles across the water is the sound of home. Both major rail lines pass through Muskoka on their way to and from the west coast. In some places, they pass very close to one another. Both Lake Joseph and Lake Muskoka have railway views. The owner of this boathouse took advantage of the railway trestle across the bay. He built his boathouse to look like a Victorian railway station and called the property Charing Cross after one of the great rail stations of the 1800's.

Muskoka’s Got Talent

June 26, 2014 in Muskoka

In the last year Port Carling has been very fortunate.  Brock and Willa Napier donated 13 acres along the Indian River to the Town for a Wellness Centre that includes a Nursing Station, Hospice and Retirement Home. Since then, they have made two further gifts totalling one million dollars to the project. Wonderfully kind and thoughtful. The community is grateful!

Muskoka Lakes is excited about the project and various groups and individuals are raising funds to support the Centre. At REMAX Hallmark, we are celebrating the talent of Muskoka who are donating  proceeds as artists, artisans and performers from their work being showcased on our patio.

The cottage was a true summer cottage built in 1912 with a magnificent covered porch. Our host had recently completed a 1000 hour restoration of a 1970 Greavette. He took us for a ride. The mahogany gleamed, the engine purred and the ride was smoother than silk. To top it off, we saw a 'double crossing' at the railway bridge then back to the old cottage for a mess of fresh lobster. Cool evening

So cool our patio dinner was moved inside. Yet not so cool that a couple of stalwarts couldn't strut their stuff. Calm evening Lake Rosseau.  As long as they stayed dry, they wouldn't mind the breeze
